While walking in the streets of San Francisco the other day, I witnessed an old lady struggling to cross the street. The light had turned red and she was barely half-way through the intersection. All of a sudden a young man on a bike grabs her hand, and helps her cross the street. I was instantly touched. Eventhough the deed wasn't done to me, I was immediately ready to Pay It Forward; I was just waiting for my opportunity.
Yesterday it happened. I was in the gas station and there was an elderly lady kindly begging for a bottle of water. I went inside, bought her one, and brought it out. She teared up and said "Thank you dear. I haven't been able to take my pills yet today, I appreciate your kindness!" She was aprobably a crackhead taking E, however, I felt good about doing a simple act of kindness.
You can be a hero everyday if you choose to be. It really is the little things that make the biggest difference. Years ago I got a tattoo on my back that says 'Pay It Forward' in Spanish. I have lived by that motto since then.
I hope we all recognize the oppportunity to Pay It Forward when it arises. You really dont have to look for it, it just happens!
Spread Love. Smile. Give support.
It WILL change the world.
